Everyone has a dream. So do I. I am Marcel Liu (1970) and in 2013 I decided to chase my dream: entering the UCI Amateur Road World Championships and become world champion in 2014. Unfortunately I didn’t win the finals. But I DID get qualified for the finals on August 31st in Ljubljana, Slovenia. And once more life showed me that it’s not the goal what makes us happy, it’s the travels. Chasing my dream was even more exciting. We (me and my soigneur/girlfriend) travelled through Europe to cycling races in Austria, France, Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands and Italy. And it was awesome. Cycling is a way of living. That’s what cellorides.com is all about.
Originally I am from Groningen, the Netherlands. But cycling and adventures brought me all over the world. Lived in Spain, New Zealand and America. For 17 years I lived in Mayrhofen, Austria, as a cycling guide/trainer and snowboard instructor. Since October 2014 I moved back to the south of the Netherlands, in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, in an awesome wooden house. Cycling makes me happy since I was 10. My BMX was a part of me and my life. When I became older I also had fun with mountainbiking, freeriding, downhill cycling and last few years I am very much excited about road racing and cyclo cross.
My favorite job is to learn others about cycling. On the road, but also the other disciplines. I am a certified trainer and guide. One of my other favorite things to do, is creating. At the moment I am working on a new label of road bikes. But not ordinary road bikes. No. Colorful ones. Because this world can use some color, some happiness. So keep an eye on Licello!
But most of all, is this blog about cycling itself. This year, 2015, I still want to become UCI Amateur Road World Champion. I will be the youngest of my age group, so that’s a new perspective :) On cellorides.com and my Facebook page I blog about my training and travels on my way to the World Cycling Tour. I strongly believe in the power of perseverance, joy and lots of training. Besides I share my views on food, health and other cycling related subjects.
Ride hard, ride smart.
